You’ll have worked or dealt with data in some way which has sparked curiousity in what a career in analytics looks like.

We don’t look at what’s on your CV or your experience. We want to create the next generation of first-class data analysts and data engineers. If you are passionate about data, we have the best way for you to get into a new career in data.

Our expertly crafted program has introduced over 100 people to the data industry across the last 7 years. We’ve found that a combination of classroom based learning and hands-on experience working on real projects is the best way to get started.

Since 2018, MIP has run a program known as The Data School Down Under. In 2025, we have now rebranded this as “MIP's Analytics Career Accelerator”. We’re still the same team and same people!

How does it work?
Successful applicants will be immersed in 8 weeks of intensive training using market-leading technologies – PowerBI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Tableau and Alteryx. You’ll have opportunities throughout the program to learn more skills and gain industry-recognised certifications.

In addition, you will hone all the soft skills needed to become an outstanding consultant. This is done through weekly projects and presentations.

This training is then followed by client engagements with Australia's leading organisations to give you real-world experience to kick-start your new career. You’ll start off as part of a wider team working alongside our senior consultants, so that you can learn what it takes to be an excellent data consultant.

Do I get paid to learn?

Yes. From day 1. The Data School offers you a competitive salary during training, and while you gain valuable industry experience.

• $65,000 per annum that will increase to $70,000 in the second year

• 24-month, fixed-term contract to start your new career as a data consultant

• On completion of the program, we’ll then help you find your next role in Data. That may be with us, with one of your clients or via our extensive Alumni network.

Application Process

We have a task based application process. If you're not quite ready to complete the task in full just yet, you can still apply via this page today and you can complete the task once you're ready!

• Join Tableau or PowerBI - Join the community and download Tableau Public or Power BI Desktop. They’re both free tools with loads of online learning materials.

• Find your data - Choose a dataset that you are passionate about; from politics to sport, TV and popular culture. You can find data on sites like Data is Plural, Kaggle, Data.world, data.gov.au, or the Tableau resources page.

• Create your Viz - Once you have your data set, you can begin creating your viz! Find insights and use interactivity to tell a compelling story. Keep it original. Following tutorials and recreating other’s work is great for learning, but for your application, do something new!

• Share it with us - Once your work is live on Tableau Public, send it to us!

• Iterate. Whatever you send us, we’ll come back to you with some feedback and suggestions on how to improve it. You’ll then share a second version with us. It’s this improved version that we care about most. So don’t worry about how bad you think the first one is, just send it and we’ll get back to you!

• The Interview - If you impress us with your passion, innovation and understanding of data, you will be invited to an interview.
