MIP's Analytics Career Accelerator
Program Overview
Get the best start to your career in Data with MIP's Analytics Career Accelerator program! This 2 year immersive program gives you the perfect blend of hands-on training, mentorshop and real world experience to get started in the industry.
Our expertly crafted program has introduced over 100 people to the data industry across the last 7 years. We’ve found that a combination of classroom based learning and hands-on experience working on real projects is the best way to get started.
Since 2018, MIP has run a program known as The Data School Down Under. In 2025, we have now rebranded this as “MIP's Analytics Career Accelerator”. We’re still the same team and same people!
How it works
-
Technical Training
Immerse yourself in 8 weeks of intensive training using market-leading technologies – PowerBI, Microsoft Fabric, SQL, Tableau and Alteryx. You’ll have opportunities throughout the program to learn more skills and gain industry-recognised certifications.
-
Projects
Weekly projects and presentations to both internal and external stakeholders help you perfect your communication and project management skills.
-
Real Experience
You'll be placed on engagements with Australia's leading organisations to give you real-world experience to kick-start your new career.
You’ll start off as part of a wider team working alongside our senior consultants, so that you can learn what it takes to be an excellent data consultant.
Applying to MIP's Analytics Career Accelerator Program
We do things differently and we’re proud of it. So forget about the application process you might be used to. We don’t want to see your CV, we want to see your passion for data.

1. Join Tableau or Power BI
Join the community and download Tableau Public or Power BI Desktop. They’re both free tools with loads of online learning materials.
Choose the tool that you've had more experience with. If you're starting fresh, we recommend using Tableau!
-
2. Get Inspired
There’s brilliant examples online for you to look at and research. If you need more inspiration look at our blog to see what previous cohorts have created to get into our previous program, The Data School. Also check out the Tableau Public Gallery. -
3. Find Your Data
Choose a dataset that you are passionate about; from politics to sport, TV and popular culture. You can find data on sites like Data is plural, Kaggle, Data.world, data.gov.au, or the Tableau resources page. Our top tip is to find data that you are interested in.
-
4. Create Your Viz
Now the fun begins! Once you have your data set, you can begin creating your winning viz! If you've used Tableau, publish it to Tableau public! Need help? Get in touch with any of the team or coaches! We’re more than happy to give advice and guidance. -
5. Share It With Us
Once your work is live on Tableau Public share the URL with us via our application form! If you've used Power BI, you can share the file with us by uploading it as an additional document, or sending it as an email attachment.
-
6. Iterate
Whatever you send us, we’ll come back to you with some feedback and suggestions on how to improve it. You’ll then share a second version with us. It’s this improved version that we care about most. So don’t worry about how bad you think the first one is, just send it and we’ll get back to you!
-
7. The Interview
If we see passion, creativity and a flair for data, we’ll follow up with you personally. First, you’ll have a video call, where you present your visualisation to us for 10 minutes. Following that, the best candidates will be invited in for a final interview with the rest of the team.

The focus of The Data School is to make you a brilliant analyst. To do this, we need to cover a wide variety of hard and soft skills. A great amount of time will be spent learning Tableau Desktop, PowerBI, SQL, Fabric and Alteryx. You’ll also spend a lot of time learning how to become a good presenter, how to tell stories, how to work with clients, etc. At the end of the 2 years, you’ll be an incredibly well-rounded analyst.
-
Our best advice is to do it on a topic which you're interested in. You'll have more context which will help you find insights and tell stories which are meaningful.
Make sure it's a real dataset, not one with generated values, as you'll be able to find real insights in them!
-
Our applications are open until 6th February 2026. Please note that we cannot guarentee to be able to give you feedback if you wait up until the deadline to submit your first iteration. Please send us your initial viz well in advance of the deadline, so that you have more time to make changes before the deadline.

We have two intakes per year. One in April and one in October.

We have loads of applicants that don't quite make it first time around. We always encourage you to apply again for a future cohort. You'll have learn a lot from your first attempt and be able to apply those learnings in your next attempt.
